Iris is a collection of large scale petal-like forms, seemingly emerging from the earth. I been exploring these forms in plaster and metal. Through this form I am contemplating how shade itself is a simple architecture that is free and accessible to all. The large curved forms provide a protection and relationship to a body; there is something loving, almost holding about them.

Iris, 2025, Steel, ~8x8x4’
The large curved Iris leaves create a relationship to a body, a bit like two cupped hands around you. This work is almost finished and will be installed outside in a garden.
